1/22/2020 5 Comments BEHOLD: THE ROUND FOUR"If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write." - Martin Luther AND SO IT ENDS...As all good things must. You've brainstormed, and written, and drank way more coffee than is probably healthy because--man, this stuff is stressful work. But now here we are: facing Round Four of the Writer Games, the final round of the contest. And we thank you. It doesn't matter if you made it to the second or third or fourth round, what matters is you came--you wrote--you made this flash fiction contest THE WRITER GAMES. So thank you, because this contest wouldn't have been even close to as successful as it has been without you and your stories. ~ THE FINALISTS ~(entries in alphabetical order, not rank) Ash Ronnel Bradley Daniels Sarah Baran ~ MINI PRIZE WINNER ~~ PRIZE: Do Hard Things by Alex and Brett Harris (book) (WINNER: Shaina Merrick) TO THE MINI PRIZE WINNER: Keep an eye on your email. In a little bit Kassie Angle (TWG Co-Host) will be contacting you to see where she should send your prize! ~ ROUND FOUR: THE FINALS ~DATE BEGINS: January 22nd 12:00 PM CST ENTRIES DUE: January 28th by 12:00 PM CST REQUIREMENT: You must use your original six-word story prompt you created in the First Round (but you're allowed to choose whatever pov you feel most comfortable with), and use our 2020 Theme: "Gradatim Ferociter”— Latin for "step by step, ferociously" (make sure this is a clear theme in your story). WORD COUNT: 1,000 words or less ABOUT: THE END IS UPON US. No seriously, this, is the finalist round -- The end of TWG. The Writers in this round will not only get to write their flash fiction piece according to whichever pov they prefer, they will also each be assigned a PERSONAL AUTHOR MENTOR. The only requirement is that they use their original six word story prompt they created in Round One AND use our 2020 theme. This story is supposed to represent YOU - the writer - so write the story that represents your unique voice and passions. There will be mini prizes, and medals, and OF COURSE, the grand winner shall be named at the end. The only other difference is that this round's entries will NOT be rated by the judges, but will instead be opened up to be voted upon by the Public/Readers of the Writing Community and nonparticipants. ~ THE PRIZES ~MINI PRIZE (by making it to the final round, all three of the Finalists are eligible for the following Mini Prizes): ~ A personal Published Writer "Mentor" to help you edit your final entry ~ One free ebook of one of your assigned Mentor's books ~ Gold Pen Medal (1st place), Silver Pen Medal (2nd place), and Bronze Pen Medal (3rd place) THE GRAND PRIZE: "The Writer Basket" including... ~ $20 Amazon Giftcard ~ 40% Discount on the Pixie Dust Crate store (excludes dust jackets) ~ "Writer's Block" wood block ~ "Write like no one's reading" mug ~ Coffee cup themed candle ~ Coffee themed coaster ~ "The Bible is our compass" magnet ~ "Thinking of a master plan" Wall sign ~ coffee themed wall backsplash ~ journal ~ 60 colored pen set FAQ1: How will the Mentors be assigned? ANSWER: I will be assigning the Mentors and Writers. I'll try to match you with the Mentor you/your writing would fit with best with ;P FAQ2: How do I get in contact with my Assigned Mentor? ANSWER: I'll let you know who you get in the email I'll be sending you in a bit. And then the Mentor I assign you to will email you a bit later. ~ HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ENTRY ~To the three Finalists, all the details about how to submit your entry will be sent to you via email. So keep an eye out for that (if you don't get anything by the end of today, check your spam box). ~ CONCERNING VOTING ~So, as you may have heard, these Final entries will NOT be graded by the Judges. Rather, at the end of the due date, the submissions will be anonymously posted for the public to vote on (everyone who isn't the three finalists or mentors, even if you originally entered TWG, but are no longer in it, can vote)! The one with the most votes will be named 1st place winner, and then second, and then third. So be back 29th-Feb 4th to read and vote on the Final entries! (Results are release Feb. 5th). By far, y'all, I've had more fun with this contest than any other blog event I've ever done. Seriously, it's been awesome! The judges and I loved reading everyone's stories. I'm super excited to share these Finalist's final stories with y'all and open voting up. AND A HUGE GIGANTIC CONGRATULATIONS to our three Finalists!!! We can't WAIT to read your stories!
Happy Writing! ~ Julia
