THE ROUNDS

WEEK ONE: Round One
DATE BEGINS: January 1st 12:00 PM CST
ENTRIES DUE: January 6th by 12:00 PM CST
REQUIREMENT: write an original 6 Word story/prompt
WORD COUNT: 6 words
THE PROMPT: *prompt to come
ABOUT: Round One is the grand intro to the Writer Games. Being the first round, it starts the writers off easy with the only requirement being for them to write an original six word story.  Only 30 of the top entered writers will be moved on to the next round. The judges are looking for six word stories that are unique, grab their attention, and make them want to know more while still leaving them satisfied. See this six word story prompt as a statement of your passion and unique writing style, let it represent YOU as a writer. THIS six word story is particularly IMPORTANT because if you make it to the Fourth and Final Round you will be required to base your flash fiction piece off of your original six word story/prompt.

WEEK TWO: Round Two
DATE BEGINS: January 8th 12:00 PM CST
ENTRIES DUE: January 13th by 12:00 PM CST
REQUIREMENT: Write in First Person POV
WORD COUNT: 100 words or less
THE PROMPT: *prompt to come
ABOUT: Round Two requires the Writers to write their flash fiction entry in First Person pov, in only 100 words or less. The top ten of the original 30 will be moving on to Round Three.

WEEK THREE: Round Three
DATE BEGINS: January 15th 12:00 PM CST
ENTRIES DUE: January 20th by 12:00 PM CST
REQUIREMENT: Write in Third Person
WORD COUNT: 500 or less
THE PROMPT: *prompt to come
ABOUT: Round Three marks the end of the Elimination Rounds by requiring the contestants to write their flash fiction entry in Third Person, in 500 words. From here only three Writers will move on to the Finalist Round.

WEEK FOUR: Round Four (aka "Finalist Round")
DATE BEGINS: January 22nd 12:00 PM CST
ENTRIES DUE: January 28th by 12:00 PM CST
REQUIREMENT: You must work with your assigned Mentor, sending them the draft of your entry to edit BEFORE submitting it to us
WORD COUNT: 1,000 words or less
PROMPT: You must use your original six-word story prompt you created in the First Round (but you're allowed to choose whatever pov you feel most comfortable with)
ABOUT: THE END IS UPON US. The Finalists will not only get to write their flash fiction piece according to whichever pov they prefer, they will also each have a PERSONAL AUTHOR MENTOR. The only requirement is that they use their original six word story prompt they created in Round One, AND send at least one draft to their Mentor to let them edit and add suggestions to.  This story is supposed to represent YOU - the writer - so write the story that showcases your unique voice and interests.  This round's entries will NOT be rated by the judges, but will instead be opened up to be voted upon by the Public/Readers of the Writing Community and nonparticipants.
