As you probably already know, our theme for this year is "Gradatim Ferociter”— Latin for "step by step, ferociously". Kassie Angle, my fellow TWG host, suggested it after seeing the phrase over on one of our Judges, Jenna Terese's blog. This past month we've seen SO SO SO many stories and writers who embody this, especially our three Finalists: Sarah Baran, Bradley Daniels, and Ash Ronnel! And I'm so happy to be announcing who WON our FIRST EVER Writer Games in this post!
AT LONG LAST WE HAVE REACHED THE VOTING ROUND OF THE WRITER GAMES!!! Our Finalists have been working hard all week long, stressing, guzzling coffee (nasty stuff), regretting every decision to listen to my wonderfully good advice that they should enter this in the first place (I regret nothing), and gleefully discussing the joys of eating chocolate and killing off reader's favorite characters (yes, nonwriters, you should be concerned. And afraid. We writers have a scary concept of fun).
Overall, in writer terms, no one died (real people at least, there were plenty of fictional people's deaths, of course), so this was a success. A wonderful, word-packed, story-filled, success. THANK YOU SO MUCH for everyone who entered, and everyone who votes down below!
AND NOW, as I've been happily not getting to the thing you've been excited for this whole week (or maybe even month), I shall end your torture with the grand command of GO FORTH, AND READ THE STORIES AND CAST THY VOTES!
"If you want to change the world, pick up your pen and write." - Martin Luther
AND SO IT ENDS...As all good things must. You've brainstormed, and written, and drank way more coffee than is probably healthy because--man, this stuff is stressful work. But now here we are: facing Round Four of the Writer Games, the final round of the contest.
And we thank you.
It doesn't matter if you made it to the second or third or fourth round, what matters is you came--you wrote--you made this flash fiction contest THE WRITER GAMES. So thank you, because this contest wouldn't have been even close to as successful as it has been without you and your stories.
"A professional writer is an amateur who didn’t quit.” — Richard Bach.
I can hardly BELIEVE this is the last of the Writer Games Elimination Rounds, and that next week is the Finals!!!! Ten writers will be entering this Third Round, and only the top three will be moving on to the Finals (in which is open voting, medals, prizes, and personal Writing Mentors!) -- which means you're going to want to pay extra attention to your entry for this Round.
Let's get into all the info for this Round!
